Quickstart

This guide walks you through setting up extratime.gg for your Discord server from scratch.

Prerequisites

  • A Discord account
  • A Discord server where you have Manage Server permission
  • A web browser

Step 1: Sign in

Go to extratimegg.com and click Get Started. You’ll be redirected to Discord to authorize your account. extratime requests the following Discord permissions:
  • identify — your Discord user ID, username, and avatar
  • email — your email address (for account recovery)
  • guilds — the list of servers you’re in (so we can show you which ones to manage)

Step 2: Add the bot

From the dashboard, select your server and click Add Bot. You’ll be taken to Discord’s authorization screen to add the extratime bot to your server. The bot requires these permissions:
  • Manage Roles (for role sync)
  • Manage Channels (for match channels)
  • Send Messages
  • Embed Links
  • Use Application Commands
The bot needs the Manage Roles permission and its role must be placed above any roles it will assign. Drag the “extratime.gg” role above your team/rank roles in Discord’s role settings.

Step 3: Configure your server

Once the bot is added, head to Admin → Bot Settings in the dashboard to configure:
  • Notification channel — where match results and announcements are posted
  • Match channels — auto-created text channels for each match (Pro+)
  • Role sync — automatically assign Discord roles based on team membership or rank (Pro+)

Step 4: Invite your players

Share your server’s extratime link with your community. Players sign in with Discord and can immediately:
  • Create or join teams
  • Queue for scrims
  • Register for tournaments
  • Set up their player profile
That’s it — you’re live.
